Over a thousand kilometres for 9 euros
In summer 2022 you could ride regional trains all over Germany for a whole month for 9 euros. In June I used that ticket to loop through a big part of the country: from the Mercedes-Benz Museum and lunch at a pig museum in Stuttgart, through Ulm Minster and Neuschwanstein Castle, to Bayern's stadium in Munich.
Rammstein, Brussels and a bullet-riddled Aston Martin
In August 2023 I went to Brussels for a Rammstein concert. The next morning I walked around the city centre, looked into the House of European History and, at Autoworld, came across a James Bond exhibition with a bullet-riddled Aston Martin.
Koblenz, Bonn and Cologne in two days, with a night in the car
A short trip to the Rhine in June 2023: the Deutsches Eck in Koblenz, an evening in Bonn, a night in the car, and in the morning the tower of Cologne cathedral and a kebab at Lukas Podolski’s.
Five flights for 92 euros: Málaga, Gibraltar, Barcelona, Milan and Malta
In January 2024 I set off on my first trip through several countries on my own. Over two weeks I flew from Germany to Málaga, Barcelona, Milan and Malta, and all the plane tickets together cost me just over 92 euros. Along the way I also fulfilled a childhood dream and saw AC Milan at San Siro.
